One of the highlights of branch calendar - this year we meet at Waihora Domain, Motukara. (look for the DOC nursery). Arrive at 9am onwards. A short run will take us to our first homestead and then a run through to Pigeon Bay for lunch. There is a 3km section of steep sealed road down into Pigeon Bay.
Follow the directions of parking marshalls please.
The rally this year will follow some of the earliest roads and routes in Canterbury.
Total distance covered is approx 70 miles with a mix of tar seal and shingle roads predominately on the hills of Banks Peninsula. There are hills to traverse some with moderately steep but short sections. Other hills have long climbs to practice you change down skills.
The reward for this is some fantastic views of Christchurch , Canterbury, South Canterbury, rugged Coastlines and the Southern Alps.
There is one section of shingle which is unavoidable however it is in good maintained condition and has a nice compacted base. (no deep loose shingle). It should present no problems for low slung cars or motorcycles.
Other sections have options to avoid the shingle as they are more of a stock route (steep with deep shingle).
Lunch will be in a local domain with toilets available. There is good shelter from the wind (if any) but very little shelter from the sun and rain, please plan for this.
After lunch will be some more hills great views finishing with a easy drive to the finish at the TaiTapu Hotel.
All Club eligible cars welcome. Vintage cars will be competing for the Ken & Kenneth Lowden Trophy, Rae Trophy and Eason Trophy
All prizes will be presented at the December Noggin.
Entry Fee : $20.00 (includes plaque and nibbles) Entries need to be received by 25th October 2019 to receive plaque.
