2017 Annual Vintage Rally

This year's rally started at the clubrooms at McLeans Island with a lovely morning tea made by the Smith family, while the entrants awaited their appointed start times for the Timed Section of the rally.  The weather cleared from easterly overcast to a beautiful sunny day.  The rally meandered through West Melton, Weedons, Burnham and Rolleston to finish at the fantastic Straight 8 Estate in Burnham.  A 40 mile run past 3 local vineyards, including a time trial, 2 x check points and field tests after lunch in the vineyard at Straight 8 Estate.  45 vehicles managed to attend (2 broke down prior to the rally and withdrew).  Thank you all for making the Vintage Section so magical and fun.

2017 Annual Motorcycle Rally

Women Drivers Rally 2017

This rally is held bi-annually (every other year), and we had around 30 vehicles take part on a blustery Nor-westerly day in Canterbury.

The rally started at West Melton where the entrants perused the Saturday Market prior to departing.

A very enjoyable, but often trying run (due to the high winds) out to Darfield, then back to the finish at a winery near Burnham.

A very big congrats to all the ladies who braved the winds and enjoyed a wonderful day out motoring on the Canterbury plains.

Daffodil Rally for Cancer - 2017

The inaugural Daffodil Rally for Cancer was part of a VCC Nationwide series of events held by local branches to fund-raise for the Cancer Society.

This was the first time the Canterbury Branch has held such a rally.  Many Car Clubs were invited to attend and pay a registration fee of $10 per vehicle.  Devonshire Teas were available for another $5 and a Sausage Sizzle was put on by the Avonhead Rotary Club.  ALL proceeds went back to the Cancer Society.

Over 450 vehicles turned up from really old to really new and everything you can think of in between.  There were commercial vehicles, motorcycles, hot rods, modern classics, veteran, vintage, post vintage vehicles, post war vehicles, post 1960 vehicles, post 1980 vehicles, and modern cars with the wow factor.  It was a thrill and joy to see so many people enjoying their vehicles no matter the make model or purpose - all for the same cause.

It was an amazing day for an amazing charity.

The vehicles (if I missed yours, I am sorry - there were so many there)
