What is a Swap Meet? The Canterbury Branch of the Vintage Car Club of NZ has held an annual Swap Meet and Display at its club ground at McLean’s Island road behind the airport for over 30 years. There are over 650 individual sites that have all manner of items for sale, swap, trade or give away. Items range from complete vehicles to car parts, from household goods to garden plants, from new items to well loved. There is something for everyone, - mums, dads, kids, grandparents. There are food stalls, kids entertainment, commercial displays and about 200 vintage vehicles on display. As well, there are 43 one-make car clubs with their own displays on the Saturday. On the Sunday we are instituting a Shoe n Shine display where anyone who owns a nice shiny vehicle can put it on display and compete for trophies. (See separate info). There is free car parking in adjoining properties, Steam Scene, Kustom Car Club and the Machinery Club who have people movers in the form of tractor rides to get you closer to the entrance. Just follow the signs and the marshals. Entry is $5 per adult and school children of any age are free. Come on out and enjoy the event.
